SHuman Right, Peace and Reconciliation

In addition to running programmes of community empowerment and governenace strengthening, since 2005 Sahakarmi Samaj has completed programme activities for the promotion of human rights, and peace and reconciliation, in disadvantaged and marginalized communities, using a process-oriented development approach. These programmes are being run in an effort to minimize the effects of community conflicts, as well as to establish peace, maintain unity and to improve the relationship amongst the community people. According to the programme process, local people themselves identify their issues of human rights violation, community conflict and social unrest, then they identify the root causes of these problems and lastly they devise solutions based on their local knowledge, skills and resources.

Since 2005, SS has implemented the Reconciliation and Peace Initiatives for Social Empowerment (RISE) programme in 5 VDCs in the Surkhet district. SS has also implemented the RISE programme in 7 VDCs in the Kailali distrtict from 2008 to 2011. A Civic Education Programme has been implemented in the Banke district since 2007.
